9:30am: WELCOME by MLA Rob Botterell and the Pender Highlanders perform!

10:00am – Throughout the day

11:30am: Wood chopping display with Nicole Coenen (outside behind the hall)
 

1:00 – 3:00pm: Adam Miller – resident horticulturist, showcasing native plant edibles on display. (For sale at the Nursery from 10am – 2pm, located on the farm next to the Community Hall)
 

CAFE ROOM 
 

10:00 – 12:00pm PANEL: “Food, Land and Relationships” with Adam Olsen, Susheela Kundargi, and David Fierro (organized by Gulf Islands Food Co-op)
 

Musical Interludes (between sessions and apple tastings): Nick Croft – fiddle player with the BC Fiddle Orchestra, and under the instruction of Daniel Lapp at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. He will fiddle us along between sessions and apple tastings to traditional and contemporary tunes. 

 

1:00pm: “Garden and Orchard Ecosystem Health” with Christina Cook (founder of The Organic Gardener's Pantry, Victoria)
 

1:00 – 3:00pm: Julie Wilmott (Winter Creek Farm) – dozens of heirloom apple varieties on display and for tasting; Q&A about growing apple trees
 

FIELD TOURS
 

3:00pm - 4:30pm: Take your pick between 3 great tours, or catch all of them if you can! Directions provided at the event.

  • Heirloom Apple Orchard (Winter Creek Farm): Tour of the orchard, organic practices, and apple sales

  • Pender Native Plant Nursery: Tour with Adam Miller; native plants for sale + expert advice (penderconservancy.org)

  • BeeWild Distillery (4306-D Corbett Road): Wild crafted spirits tasting room, open 1:00 – 5:00pm (beewilddistillery.ca)

2:00pm: COMMUNITY/FAMILY DANCE with Pierre Schryer, Adam Dobres and Danielle Enblom (Irish, Scottish, Québécois, Métis, and Contra social dance)

3:30pm: FILM: “SEARCHING FOR SŁEW̱ÁŁ NOṈET (peace of mind at last)” – followed by discussion. Winner of Audience Choice Award, Salt Spring Film Festival.​​
